:: Longer Version ::

Hello, I’m Jess. I’m primarily a writer/novelist/poet.

I lived in Singapore for the first two decades of my life. Currently I’m in Maine, USA. Permanent location would be “in my head.”

I don’t like labels but the MBTI is fascinating; according to that, I’m an INFJ.

In mid-2009, I decided to publish my first two books myself (some stats on Book01′s history here), after realizing those works weren’t exactly commercially categorizable. My third (full-length) novel is a more mainstreamy project.

+ Zodiac: Virgo sun, Pisces moon, Aries rising (and a Venus Scorpio in 8th house).

+ Genres I write in:

Main Genres: Erotic Fiction, Psychological Thrillers.

Other Genres: mainstream/literary fiction, experimental fiction, new media, paranormal/occult, GLBT, young adult fiction, multicultural fiction, speculative/fantasy, urban fantasy, offbeat fiction, non-fiction, short stories, poetry, Christian/inspirational fiction.

I’m committed to producing “authentic, original work, rather than the same old re-packaged mass-market pulp” (e-mail from a reader of my novella, New Order).

    Hi Jess,

I got your email – will respond in a sec. Just wanted to check out your site here. Very nice… Your interests listed above match many of mine – keats, yates, wilde, depeche, NIN, Smashing Pumpkins, New Order, Nirvana, Classical composers…

It’s interesting that while going to school you’re able to manage writing books too! Amazing… I just don’t have the focused attention gift like that!

I have a friend living in New Hampshire, Randy Duermyer, he writes at homebusiness.about.com – have you checked it out? Just so you know you’re not the only one up in those parts. How do you go from Singapore to Maine? Wow. Once I moved from Hawaii to NYC – but, not really as bad as Singapore to Maine if we’re considering the weather.

Hope it’s warming for you up there!

    Mike

    Hi Mike!

Still haven’t replied your mail — just finished a 35-page advertising plan with regards to “establishing my brand identity as an author” (proposed and approved final project for a business module, lol). Yeah, NIN!! I haven’t kept up with the current music scene in ages. It just doesn’t seem to be able to match up with the old school stuff.

I must say I give myself a lot of self-induced stress (with the books-writing, etc)…but hopefully I’m investing my time well.

Thanks for the homebusiness link — I’ll probably find something very useful there! Yup, Singapore’s weather is mainly sunny/rainy. Here, the four seasons are pretty extreme (especially winter), but it’s really nice at times too.

Thankfully, it is warming up now :D

did i ever ask you – do you use jango.com? they have a great selection of songs – maybe all the groups you listen to on your profile there…

    cheers!

I believe Lee Kuan Yew is an INTJ too!

I had to look up who that is. You know Americans – we don’t have a well rounded education about the world. We know the USA, and that’s about it. I couldn’t tell you who Canada’s PM is. Or if they HAVE a PM or a president. See what I’m saying Jess? lol

I just finished another ebook – considering adding audio or video component to it. How is school? Finished for now? Guess I’ll write email – I’m using your about page as my email. Cheers!

Never mind, there’s a first time for everything =P I’ve been increasingly out of touch with the news since I was 17, to be honest…I usually pick up on current events from the conversations of other people, lol.

Congrats on finishing another ebook! I’m not sure how to embed video into it, that would be nice.

Supposed to start on one summer course soon / then 3 upper division courses + one more elective for Fall 2010. Hmm, I believe some people use Facebook like MSN!…

Hi! Jess, I really like your site… You’re right, I can see some similarities. It’s nice finding similar people half-way across the globe!

    • Jess C Scott

      Hi Zkairos!

Thanks for dropping by, heh [and for the nice comments -- it can get a bit "troublesome" at times, to organise things on a website].

I know! I’m always surprised to see the various similarities between INXX types [around the globe = more interesting perspectives too] :)

Interesting blog and your psychological thrillers are intriguing. As you know, I write in a similar genre. We should talk. I saw you are on DeviantArt if you used to frequent the chatrooms, we probably did have a chat or two about something (I don’t remember ever having a chat with a psychological writer on DeviantArt as most of the members were heavily into sci-fi). Anyways, thanks for popping by LaeLand and have a look around. I sure enjoyed my visit in the jess c. scott world. You’re welcome to write a post for LaeLand if you wish/have time/feel like it. I’d be happy to run it. Best,
